That's a wrap on Blank Verse Chapter Two!

It’s been a long time coming, but Episode 10 of Blank Verse is finished - which brings an end to Chapter Two.

You’ll notice one very important thing missing in Episode 10; color.

This was a deliberate change and a decision that was not made lightly. Over the last few months I’ve been reading more and more comics and manga to see what I can learn from other illustrators - especially individuals who write and illustrate their comics on their own, like myself. I saw the parts of their work that they put more into, and most of them were not colored. Hell, most of them didn’t even have tones, shadows or effects and were almost exclusively line art. This made me realize that I had been overexerting myself with Blank Verse since the very beginning and it was time to put an end to that.

From the start I wanted to make Blank Verse absurdly detailed and took every measure I knew of to make it look as best as I could. What I didn’t take into consideration was the amount of time it would take to make it. Super Sad Squad is not the comic making machine that I pretended it was in the beginning and it’s caused me to get burned out frequently and for long stretches of time. This last episode took way longer to make than I anticipated between work, creative block, and some personal roadblocks.

I don’t want every update to be a “I’m doing my best even though everything freaking sucks” kind of post. I’m learning new techniques that will make working easier and far less stressful. Those methods will be implemented in future episodes as the project moves forward. Now that Chapter Two is finished I don’t have to follow the same formula for the sake of continuity with printing, so that’s great.

Episode 10 of Blank Verse will be out by the end of October! More info to come on physical copies of Chapter Two in its entirety!
